Health, safety and environment (HSE) management system is a kind of management system widely adopted in the foreign petroleum enterprises. Our domestic petroleum enterprises are actively adopting it to cooperate with them in terms of the international practice. On the basis of primarily describing the implication and development of the HSE management system, the authors comprehensively introduced the state of the adoption and the progress of the HSE management system in three leading domestic petroleum corporations and their subsidiaries. They also analyze the problems and their corresponding approaches, which might be encountered during their adoption. It was also pointed out the commonality in respect of its guidance and structure.
