Purpose:To explore the impact of 20 weeks of regular 24 - Taiji exercise on the kinesthesia of aged women in their knees and ankles. Methods:36 aged women with no tumbling history(aged 60 ~ 65)randomly into a Taiji team and a contrasting team, and there is no significant difference between the two teams concerning the subjects’age, stature and body weight. Use a proprioceptive tester to respectively test the knee and ankle of the subjects’leg dominance before and after the 20 - week cycle. Result:Firstly,20 weeks later, compared with the original bases,a significant alteration has been made on the Taiji team members ’ kinestheses of their knee’s flexion and extension( flexion reduced by 37. 2% ,P = 0. 045, extension reduced by 25. 1% ,P = 0. 017). Contrasted with control group, there is a remarkable change between the two(the former reduced by 33. 3% ,P = 0. 039,the latter reduced by 21. 6% ,P = 0. 021). Secondly, twenty weeks later,Taiji team members’ankle motion perception of its flexion has also reduced(flexion reduced by 16. 5% ,P = 0. 030). A big difference has been generated between Taiji team and control group, the former one’s flexion has reduced by 16. 5%(P = 0. 042). Conclusion:20 weeks’Taiji exercise mainly affects the elder women’s knee kinestheses of its flexion and extension and ankle kinestheses of its flexion, while the improvement on ankle’s extension is unobserved.
