美国华裔文学的中国元素共生论

A Symbiotic Study on Chinese Elements in Chinese American Literature

本文借用生物学的"共生"概念和美国学者大卫·科沃特的"文学共生"观,对美国华裔文学中的中国元素的共生问题进行了研究。论文在回顾"共生"概念及其在文学批评中的应用的基础上,分析了中国元素与美国元素的并存方式;探讨了前文本与包含了中国元素的后文本之间的互动;发现了有中国元素参与的美国华裔作品中存在两层共生关系。论文进一步指出,以中国元素为核心所探讨的共生关系深刻地影响着美国华裔文学的族裔属性、美国文学经典的重构和美国华裔文学作品的文学性。

This paper aims to stu.dy the symbiotic issues of Chinese elements in Chinese American literature by applying the concept of symbiosis from the biological field and David Cowart＇s literary study. Based on reviewing the definition of symbiosis and its exemplifications in literary criticism, this paper analyzes the coexistence between Chinese elements and American elements, discusses the interactions between host texts and Chinese American texts which are considered as guest texts, and discovers that two levels of symbiotic relationships which involve Chinese elements exist in Chinese American literature. Moreover, this paper suggests that the symbiotic relationships centered on Chinese elements have a profound influence on the ethnicity of Chinese American literature, the reconstruction of American literary canons and the literariness of Chinese American works.
