Images of Liubo (六博) found in Han tombs is a part of Han funerary ceremony, which is a symbol that helped to separate the tomb chamber from the mortal realm. The presence of Liubo indicated that the tomb was situated in the immortal world. When one entered the spatial and temporal realm demarcated by Liubo, they had crossed a threshold, leaving the mundane, mortal world and arriving at an immortal par- adise. Liubo is one of the faith symbols used in Han tombs that made manifest the belief in the capacity of bodily transformation ( of life after death). Han people sought a passage through space and time, namely ca- ve. Implicit in the presence of Liubo was an alternate temporal reality where an instant (in the immortal realm) equaled a millennium in the world of men, like the story of woodcutter Wang Zhi who found his axe handle rotted after watching a game of chess in a mountain cave. In these images of Liubo one can discovers an early form of the belief in cave and earthly paradise.
