Accidental Factors on Expansion of the Northern Wei Dynasty Buddhism Belief

佛教在北魏风靡一时,对朝野政治和社会生活都产生了巨大影响。它的广泛传播、发展乃至进入到北魏国家体制之内,原因复杂而多样,其中,频繁发生的自然灾害、大规模的军事战役和人口迁移、统治阶级的内乱、鲜卑族彪悍的民族性格等等,是最值得关注的偶然性因素。各种偶然性因素的出现,就使得北魏朝野上下更容易从心理上接受佛教,进而成为佛教最忠实的信从者。

In the Northern Wei Dynasty,Buddhism became popular for quite a while,exerting great influence on political and social life. The reasons for its wide spread,development and entering into the Northern Wei state system are complex and diverse,among which there are the frequent occurrence of natural disasters,large-scale military campaigns and population migration,the civil conflicts of the ruling class,sturdy national character of Xian Bei and so on. These accidental factors deserve the most attention. The emergence of various accidental factors makes it easier for the Northern Wei Dynasty to accept Buddhism and then become the most faithful believers in Buddhism.
