As an emerging online learning mode, MOOCS have provided young learners, born in the nineties and eager to learn autonomously and effectively, with unprecedented opportunities. Prior preparedness has become one of the key factors affecting online learning effectiveness. This study surveyed the online learning preparedness of the 2014 freshmen cohort in Chang'an University and analyzed test items and the subjects' skills using Rasch model. The results show that 58 skills test items demonstrate a high model fitting, which proves college students' increased computer literacy, while there are still other areas not that desirable, ie. reading, writing, expressing themselves, engaging in discussion, time management and cooperating with others. Therefore, learning support needs to provide students with helpful supervision about time management and help-seeking strategies, so as to improve their learning abilities and preparedness for learning to suit the changing online learning environment.
