Objective To study the expression of C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in elderly patients patients before and after internal fixation of spine. Methods 90 cases of elderly patients patients with internal spinal fixation were selected in our hospital from September 2010 to September 2014, they were divided into deep incision group (81 cases) and non-deep incision group (9 cases) according to the depth of incision, the CRP and ESR 28 days postoperative between two groups were compared preoperative and postoperative . Results The preoperative CRP and ESR of two groups had no statistically significant (P〉0.05);CRP score of deep incision group after 3 to 28 days of operation were significantly higher than the non-deep incision group, the difference was statistically significant (P〈0. 05);non-deep incision group occured CRP peak after 3 clays of operation while the deep incision group occured CRP peak after 7 days of operation,ESR of deep incision group after 1 day was significantly lower than the non-deep incision group, the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05) ;ESR of deep incision group after 3 to 28 days of operation were significantly higher than the non-deep incision group, the difference was statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion CRP will be significantly increased after 7 days of operation in patients with deep incision,it may related with deep wound infection, being combined with ESR can help to diagnosis.
