Objective: To compare the curative effect of the treatment of insomnia with anxiety and depression by invigorating the spleen and nourishing the heart acupuncture and Eszopiclone. Methods: Sixty-four cases were selected and randomly divided into the acupuncture group(30 cases) and the western medication group(29 cases). In the acupuncture group, Pishu(BL20), Xinshu(BL15), Sanyinjiao(SP6), Shenmen(TF4) and Neiguan(PC6) were selected, and the treatment was once a day for 4 weeks. In the western medication group, Eszopiclone was applied with oral administration for 4 weeks. The curative effect comparison was analyzed by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), and Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS). Results: The cured and effective rate in the acupuncture group was superior to that of western medication group; after the treatment, the scores of all items and the total cumulative scores of PSQI, SAS and SDS of both groups were reduced(P<0.01); the sleep quality evaluation in acupuncture group had better effect than those in western medication group(P<0.05); the side effects in western medication group were higher than those in acupuncture group. Conclusion: The effect of nourishing spleen and nourishing heart acupuncture therapy on insomnia is remarkable. It could obviously improve the quality of sleep, and is better than Eszopiclone, and the adverse reaction is less.
