[Objective]To investigate the variation of plasma obestatin, ghrelin levels in functional dys- pepsia(FD) patients with mental symptoms and its relationship with the score of anxiety/depression. [Methods]Plasma obestatin, ghrelin levels in 41 cases of FD patients and 40 cases of healthy volunteers were measured by ELISA. Hamilton anxiety/ depression scales were used to score anxiety and depression in the FD group and the control group. [Results]Plasma obestatin levels in FD group were significantly higher than the control group(P〈0.05) ; plasma ghrelin levels of FD group were significantly lower than the control group(P〈0.01). A positive correlation(r=0. 131 ,P〈0.05;r=0. 106 ,P〈0.05)was identified among the Scores for HAMA, HAMD and plasma obestatin levels;a negative correlation(r=--0. 428,P〈 0.01 ;r=--0. 462, P〈0.01)was identified among the Scores for HAMA, HAMD and plasma ghrelin lev- els. In FD patients with moderate degree of anxiety, severe depression and anxiety with depression, plasma obestatin levels were significantly higher than the control group(P〈0.05), while plasma ghrelin levels were significantly lower than the control group(P〈0.05). [Conclusion]Plasma obestatin levels in FD pa- tients with anxiety and depression were significantly higher than the control group, and have a positive cor- relation with the Scores for HAMA, HAMD. Plasma ghrelin levels in FD patients with anxiety and depres- sion are significantly lower than the control group, and have a negative correlation with the Scores for HA- MA, HAMD.
