摘要
本研究通过对在美中国留学生的问卷调查和一所美国高校的实地考察,综合分析报道了美国高校的学术写作课程体系。调查研究结果显示,美国高校的写作课程类型多样,集阅读能力、写作能力和批判性思维能力培养于一体。学术写作课程强调通过阅读和过程写作培养学生的学术写作意识、逻辑思维能力和批判性思维能力。调查也表明,学术英语能力与通用英语能力之间存在相辅相成的关系。
Based on a survey of Chinese students studying at American universities and a filed study at one American university, this study makes an integrated investigation into the academic writing curriculum of American universities. The results show that American universities offer a variety of English composition courses combining instruction and practice of reading, writing and critical thinking skills required in universities. The academic writing courses put heavy emphasis on reading and process writing in order to develop students' academic writing, analytical thinking and critical thinking skills. The study also proves that students' competence in English for academic purposes and general English reciprocate and complement each other.
