Starch types,molecular structure,modification method,and modification process were briefly in-troduced .The research and application of modified starch in drilling fluid was focused on ,such as etheri-fied starch,esterified starch,crosslinked starch ,and other modified starch products .Furthermore,the de-velopment suggestions of modified starch in drilling fluid were proposed .
