During the Renaissance the mixture of Christian tradition and humanist spirit in artist creation was common because of intellectual diversity. Shakespeare' s plays are representative of this phenomenon. In theme and content, his plays displays the combination of Christian tradition and the Renaissance spirit. Take The Tempest for example, in which some of the characters are pure and polite, some have good will, and some are obsessed with ambitions and delusions;Prosperois the union of deity, humanity, and demon. By means of a blend of Christian tradition and humanist spirit, the play maintains the textual openness, which makes Shakespeare's plays the classic of the classics.
