礼貌原则视角下英汉问候语应用实证研究

An Empirical Study on Application of English and Chinese Greetings From the Perspective of Politeness Principle

研究探讨礼貌原则视角下英汉问候语的差别,从社会权势和社会距离角度出发,对各项数据进行定性和定量分析。发现面对高权势对话者时,本族语者和英语学习者都较多使用问好型问候语,并多选择公共话题。面对低权势对话者时,本族语者在问候语方式上没有表现出明显偏好,英语学习者则较多使用询问型问候语;内容上两组受试者都多选择私人话题。面对社会距离近的对话者,两组受试者都较多使用问好型问候语和私人话题;面对社会距离远的对话者,都会大比例地选择问好型问候语和公共话题。

The research is made on the differences of English and Chinese greetings from the perspective of Politeness Principle. Qualitative and quantitative analyses are made from the aspects of social power and social distance. The results show that when facing speakers of high social power, both native speakers and English learners use greetings in the form of regards and choose public topics. When facing speakers of low social power, native speakers do not show any significant preference in the form of greetings, while English learners use greetings in the form of inquiry most. However, both groups choose private topics as their content. When facing speakers of close social distance, both groups use greetings in the form of regards and choose private topics. When facing speakers of distant social distance, both groups are very much alike in using greetings in the form of regards and choosing public topics with high percentages.
