Objective The Joanna Briggs Institute(JBI)is an international,membership based research and development organization at the University of Adelaide.The institute specializes in promoting and supporting evidencebased healthcare by providing access to resources for professionals in nursing,midwifery,medicine,and allied health.In November 2016,the institute developed critical appraisal tools for systematic reviews.This article focused on introducing the critical appraisal tool for descriptive studies including prevalence study and analytic cross sectional study.The tools can help researcher evaluate the methodological quality of descriptive studies from sampling method,sampling size,diagnosis of disease,measurement and analysis.
