The genus Microsporum was an important kind of the pathogenic dermatophytes. They could be di-vided into three types,geophilic,anthropophilic and zoophilic. It has strong propagation,susceptibility to in-fection,and keratinophilic features. This article summarized the taxonomic history,pathogenic mechanism and application value of the genus Microsporum. The kind of fungi was found that they have potential applica-tion value and research significance in these fields such as biological control,industry,environmental protec-tion.
