语块理论应用于商务英语写作的实证研究

An Empirical Study on Applying Lexical Chunks Theory to Business English Writing

二语习得研究发现,语块能力是二语综合能力的一个重要指标。语言的流利程度和选词的地道性取决于语块存储的多少。近些年来,语言学界对于基于语块理论的语块教学法愈加重视。尽管语块理论的重要性已经被多方讨论,但对于语块教学法的实证研究仍显匮乏。因此,本文首先介绍了语块理论的起源及其定义,商务英语写作的特点以及语块在商务英语写作中的重要性。进而以80名商务英语写作学生为研究对象,根据Lewis对语块的定义将语块理论应用于商务英语写作教学进行了实证研究。实验通过调查研究分析和运用SPSS21.0对研究结果进行了数据分析,探讨了语块在商务英语写作教学中的作用,印证了语块教学法可以提高商务英语写作准确性和流利性。

In recent years,the role of the lexical approach to English teaching and learning has been widely discussed,and it attracts more and more attention.Previous studies have proved the importance of chunk theory in teaching and learning;however,few empirical studies have been conducted.Therefore,this paper first introduces the origin and definitions of lexical chunks theory,the characteristics of business English writing as well as the importance of chunks in English business writing.With 80 subjects who took the business English writing course,an empirical study was conducted concerning applying the lexical chunks theory in business English writing in terms of the definition of lexical chunks given by Lewis.The students chosen were of intermediate English level,who had passed College English Test(Band Four).They were divided into two classes:A and B.In Class A,the traditional teaching method was used,which focused on the teaching of vocabulary and grammatical points;whereas the lexical approach was employed in Class B,which focused on cultivating students’awareness of lexical chunks learning and teaching of how to pick up the lexical chunks and put them into use.By analyzing the data gained from the teaching practice and processing the data by SPSS21.0,the function of lexical chunks teaching and learning in business English writing has been discussed and explored.Finally,the paper draws a conclusion that lexical approach proves to be effective in enhancing the accuracy and fluency of business English writing.
