Rotary engines development and application has been controversial,its advantages and disadvantages as obvious.This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the rotary engine in the application process,reviews thedevelopment and application of the rotary engines at different stages,and analyzes the research status and technologicalprogress of the patent applicants at home and abroad from the applicant for paten.Based on the analysis of the presentsituation of the current technological innovation of the international rotary engines and the actual situation of the automobileindustry in China,the development orientation and application suggestions of the future rotary engines technology are given.
