汉语古诗英译体系简化策略之增添法研究

On the Translation Method of Addition in the Translation Strategy of Explication in the English Translation of Classical Chinese Poems

汉语古诗是中国传统文化的瑰宝,也是当前语境下中国文化外译的重要内容之一,而选择何种翻译策略以及相应的翻译方法以更好地促进汉语古诗英译则是中国文化"走出去"需要考虑的问题。汉语古诗英译策略体系主要包括易化、多样化和简化三大翻译策略,其中简化策略包括概括法、释义法、替换法、节略法和增添法等五种方法。本文聚焦简化策略中的增添法,首先指出增添法的内涵,进而结合汉语古诗英译语料,从名词意象增添、形容词意象增添、动词意象增添以及短语或短句意象增添等四个方面对增添法进行阐释,最后对译者使用增添法的原因进行解读。

Classical Chinese poems are the treasure of traditional Chinese culture and one of the important elements for the translation of Chinese culture in current times,thus what translation strategies and corresponding translation methods need to be used to better promote the English translation of classical Chinese poems are the questions to be considered in terms of the“going global”of the Chinese culture.The strategies of English translation of classical Chinese poems contain simplification,diversification and explication,the last of which comprises generalization,notes,replacement,omission and addition.This paper focuses on the translation methods of addition by first explaining content and then elaborating the method from four aspects,namely,the addition of nouns,the addition of adjectives,the addition of verbs,and the addition of phrases and clauses,and explanations on the use of addition are provided based on the analyses.
