明代地方城市中的谯楼和钟鼓楼

On Watchtowers and Bell&Drum Towers in Cities and Towns in Ming Dynasty

本文通过梳理方志、文集等材料,结合城址实例,对明代城市中的谯楼与钟鼓楼进行了考察。研究表明,谯楼与钟鼓楼并非前后延续的关系,而是各有源流,两者在府州县城和卫所城中有不同的组合形式,功能与空间意象也互有异同。

In this article,the author delves into cities’watchtowers and bell&drum towers in Ming Dynasty by sorting out local chronicles and collected works and examining city sites that have been discovered.It has been found out that bell&drum towers did not grow out of the watchtowers,and they evolved separately from different origins.For varied functions and symbolic meanings,how watchtowers and bell&drum towers were combined differed from Fu,Zhou and Xian to garrisoned places.
