《内经》云"饮食自倍,肠胃乃伤",小儿脏腑成而未全,全而不壮,极易因不知饥饱致损伤胃气、或因喂养不当致饮食偏嗜,甚至影响其他脏腑,使脏腑间水火失衡,寒热不调,变生他疾。《幼幼集成》强调钱乙"小儿之脏腑柔弱,不可痛击"的学术思想,在伤食治疗上形成了一套先损再调后导,慎用攻下的完整治疗原则,并注意平衡阴阳,健运脾胃。论文探讨《幼幼集成》伤食观中所蕴含的内经理论,对小儿伤食的论治拓展思路。
