The aim of the paper is to provide a scientific basis for the protection and development of Pseudogobio vaillanti.With the help of published literature and materials provided by research and development institutes,the research status of taxonomy and geographic subdivision,morphological characters,living habit,reproductive characteristics,nutritive value,artificial domestication and propagation,resource protection,resource exploitation and utilization of Pseudogobio vaillanti are comprehensively introduced.At the same time,the application prospects of Pseudogobio vaillanti’s breeding development are discussed.Pseudogobio vaillanti is a potential variety for rural revitalization and targeted poverty alleviation in the mountainous areas because of its good market foundation and strong potential for fishery development and utilization.It is suggested that the breeding of the cultured varieties of Pseudogobio vaillanti and the research and development of complete formula feed should be accelerated,so as to provide a technical basis for its promotion.
