The culture left by history is an important clue to explore the development of human society. As a province with large cultural heritage resources,Gansu shoulders the important task of inheriting, protecting and carrying forward the excellent culture of the Chinese nation.Research on the geographical distribution and affecting factors of the intangible cultural heritage in Gansu is an important way to improve the management and protection level of intangible cultural heritage.Data from 2969 items concerning intangible cultural heritage in Gansu Province are collected and analyzed based on the geographic information system. This study shows that the distribution structure of intangible cultural heritage projects in Gansu Province is hierarchical, mainly traditional skills, followed by folk customs and traditional art;the spatial distribution of intangible cultural heritage in Gansu Province is uneven, with the characteristics of point mosaic and circle agglomeration.Linxia and Pingliang are high-density aggregation areas as the core, and the outward radiation is the five circle layers with a decreasing aggregation trend. The concentration in the central, eastern and southern regions of Gansu is obvious, and the distribution in the western region is less;the overall spatial pattern of intangible cultural heritage in Gansu Province is influenced by various factors such as terrain, climate, and population distribution.
