在新文化运动对“旧文学”猛烈批判的大潮中,吴宓却坚守中国传统文化,主张古今文学的延续,并把东西方古典文学视为文学发展史上的制高点。吴宓的文学理念在当时被认为迂腐守旧、不合时宜,进而备受批判。实际上,吴宓的文学理念是他文化思想的重要体现,其超越时代差异,公平公正、不偏不倚对待古今、中西不同文学的思想,虽不适应风云激荡的乱世,但对和平盛世的文化发展道路有重要的参考意义。今天,重新考察吴宓的文学建构理念,不仅有助于深入发掘中国近现代文学发展转型的复杂性和多元性,深入认识中国百年的文化发展历程,也有助于当今先进文化的发展。

In the tide of the New Culture Movement’s fierce criticism of old literature,Wu Mi insisted on traditional Chinese culture,advocated the continuation of ancient and modern literature,and regarded Eastern and Western classical literature as the commanding heights in the history of literary development.Wu Mi’s literary ideas were considered pedantic and outdated at the time,and were criticized accordingly.In fact,Wu Mi's literary concept is an important embodiment of his cultural thoughts.It transcends the differences of the times,and treats ancient and modern,Chinese and Western literature fairly and impartially.The development path has important reference significance.Today,re-examining Wu Mi’s concept of literary construction will not only help to deeply explore the complexity and diversity of the development and transformation of modern Chinese literature,but also help to deeply understand China’s cultural development over the past century,and will also help the development of today’s advanced culture.
