On Fang Yizhi's Theory of"Zheng-Bian"in Poetic Discourse and His Poetic Practice

《诗说》是方以智为数不多的阐发诗学理论和进行诗学批评的专章。它基于中国古代文论中的“正变”观,针对明代诗坛的时文风气,结合三教融通的哲学方法,阐明了理想化的诗歌发展理念:正变相济、融会通变。其诗学实践在一定程度上反映了《诗说》中的“正变”观,又与其存在着矛盾而统一的关系。

Poetic Discourse is one of the few chapters where Fang Yizhi expounds on poetic theory and poetic criticism.Based on the ancient Chinese literary theory of"zheng-bian"(orthodoxy and change),aiming at the literary trends of the Ming dynasty’s poetry world,and combining the philosophical approach of harmonizing the three teachings(Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism),it expounds on the idealized concept of poetic development:the mutual support of“orthodoxy”and“change”,and the integration of diverse influences.To a certain extent,his poetic practice reflects the concept of“zheng-bian”in Poetic Discourse,while also having a contradictory yet unified relationship with it.
