Tympanites is a common complication that occurs in patients with chronic liver disease as they progress to the later stages,characterized by abdominal distension resembling a drum,a sallow complexion,and exposed blood vessels.This consensus elaborates on the evolution of the disease name,etiology and pathogenesis,common syndromes,clinical treatment,efficacy assessment,prevention and management,and follow-up of tympanites,highlighting clinical practicality and reflecting the latest research progress.
