Public diplomacy is an important part of Australia's foreign policy. In 2013, Australia kicked off the New Colombo Plan to sponsor Australian students to study and do internship in the Indo-Pacific Region in order to serve the country's strategic goal. This signaled a turning point in Australia's foreign aid policy, indicating Australia's focus on public diplomacy in the region. Although the plan has achieved noticeable results, it faces considerable challenges too. Nevertheless, there are many things China can learn from its process of formulation and implementation.
