On the Constitution of Zhou Wen's Ideologies of Literature and Arts

大众化是周文文艺思想与实践的精髓。要想全面而透彻地把握左翼文艺特别是延安文艺观念的形成与发展,不了解他的文艺大众化思想是不可能的。它主要由以下四个层面构成:1.文艺家“要为大多数人服务”,要写出真正的大众生活;2.要运用跟反映大众生活相一致的大众化形式;3.大众化“不是迎合大众,而是提高大众”;4.大众通讯网的建立,“使大众化文化运动,真正成为群众运动”。

Popularizing is the essence of Zhou Wen's ideologies and practice of literature and arts, which comprises of the following four aspects; 1. Workers of literature and arts should 'serve the grand masses' ;2. Popularizing literary forms which conform to the life of the grand masses must be adopted; 3. Popularizing means not to 'cater to the needs of the grand masses, but to promote the grand masses' ;4. The building of a popularizing communication network should intend to 'make popularizing cultural movements true movements of the grand masses'.
