Bay-layout Upstairs and Downstairs: Study on Storied Historical Buildings in China

本文首先阐释了楼、阁及与其密切相关的平坐概念,由此进一步探讨了楼阁结构中的关键点,即上下层如何收分的问题,并通过实例重点分析了楼阁上下层开间数一致,且上层内收形成的上下柱不对位,这一特殊形式的做法,试图从中探讨一些楼阁结构发展、演变规律。

This article explains the relationship of Chinese historical storied structure and the concepts of the support platform,and then discusses the key problem of the storied building structure,that is how to structurally deal with the relationship between the upstairs and downstairs.Furthermore,the author concentrates on elaborating a special construction rule of storied building with the help of the extant examples and tries to find the evolvement of these storied buildings.
