摘要
衔接在英语的运用机制中起重要的作用 ,衔接理论已经历了 30多年的渐进发展过程 ,对衔接进行系统的和深入的研究可以加深对衔接功能的理解 ,从而有效地使用衔接来提高写作水平。本文利用统计方法和语料库方法对比研究持本族语者语料和中国英语学习者语料中逻辑连接词的使用特点 ,以期有针对性地为教师和学生提出旨在利用衔接提高写作水平的合理化建议。
From a corpus-based perspective, this study compares the usage of logical connectors by native speakers and Chinese ESL learners. Statistics show that there is significant difference among Australian English, British English, American English, children's literature and articles written by Chinese ESL learners of different proficiency levels. Contrary to the common understanding, Chinese learners don't seem to lack the awareness of utilizing transitional words and phrases in their compositions to achieve cohesion. The paper suggests that the overuse of certain types of connectors should be resulted partly from restricted task types and partly from students' limited knowledge about the variety of cohesive devices. Limitation of this research and directions for future investigations are also considered.
