北朝风习与北朝散文的南化

Social Customs and Changes of Prose in the Northern Dynasty

北朝风习多不同于南朝,但在佞佛、崇儒上,二者的趋同使南北风习有了根本的一致点,从而影响到文坛。北朝文风的南化存在南人入北和北人学南的双重因素,在传统的评说中,北朝文人的才藻和文风的华丽常为人关注,使南北文风有很相近的地方。但北朝散文风格最具个性的是本色,即切合表现对象寻求心性和语言的自然,从而走了一条介于质实与华美之间的中性道路。

Most of the social customs in the Northern Dynasty differ from those of the Soutern Dynasty, but they shared much in adoring Buddhism and Confucianism, which had its impact felt in the literary circles. The two factors causing the change of the literary style in the Northern Dynasty lie in the migration of people in the south to the north or vice versa. In traditional critiques, priority was given to the great talent and pompous style of scholars in the Northern Dynasty, thus having led to the similarities in writing style between the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Nevertheless, what is most individualistic about the writing style in the Northern Dynasty is its originality, i.e. its propriety in narration and naturalness in language.
