The Divisions and Changes of the Contemporary Chinese Social Classes

改革开放以来,随着经济结构的变化,中国的社会结构也发生了深刻的变化,就业结构变了,城市化进程加快了,原来的“两个阶段、一个阶层”的社会结构分化了,一个新的社会阶层结构正在形成。那么该如何正确认识当前阶层结构发生的变化,正确认识各个阶层的地位和特点,以及他们之间的相互关系和发展趋向,并给予正确的理论解释,这是摆在中国社会科学工作者面前的历史任务,也是本文所要重点谈论的问题。

With the development of Chinese economic structure, the social structure has undergone some great changes, including the employment and urbanization. A new structure of social classes is taking shape, as a result of the divisions of the social structure known as ‘two stages and one class’. The historic task for the researchers of social sciences lies in how to understand the current changes, the class status, its characteristics, the inter-relationships and the tendency of development. And this is the major issue in question.
