"新的抒情"是40年代现代诗人穆旦提出的具有现代主义知性特征而又扎根于中国社会现实、极具前沿性和创新性的诗学主张。穆旦提出这一主张的现实依据源于他对抗战之于民族新生的强烈信念,其理论渊源直接来自欧美现代主义诗潮特别是T·S·艾略特诗学,间接来自17世纪玄学派诗学。"新的抒情"这一诗学主张的核心是以理性精神表现抗战时代的中国社会现实并鼓舞国民努力争取民族新生的光明前途。穆旦的诗学主张表明他对时代、社会、民族的责任意识和对现代诗艺术的高度自觉。

The new lyric' was the viewpoint put forward by the modern poet Mu Dan in the 1940's which was characterized by the modernism of intellectual poetry and was deeply rooted in Chinese social reality.His view was both pioneering and creative.It was based on his strong belief in the national rebirth following the AntiJapanese war,and theoretically originated from the European and American modernist poetic tendency exemplified by T.S.Eliot.The core of the poetic proposal was to use the rational spirits to express Chinese social reality during the war and to encourage the whole nation to strive for the bright future of the national rebirth.His ideas show his sense of responsibility for the times,society and nation,and also his consciousness of the modern poetic arts.
