Liu Ji and His Two Allegorical Proses

刘基是元末明初杰出的政治家与军事家,又是很有造诣的文学家与思想家。他在一度归隐山林期间创作了不少哀时愤世的佳篇,《司马季主论卜》和《卖柑者言》就是其中具有深刻思想内容的佳作。前者是刘基对于人生的探讨,后者是刘基对于社会政治的思索。通过这两篇文章,可以深入理解刘基的性格,寻出他成为一代杰出政治家的思想原因。

Liu Ji is a prominent stateman, militarist, scientist,writer and thinker during the late Yuan dynasty to the early Ming dynasty. He had composed many proses after he retired such as 'Si Ma Ji Zhu Lun Bu', 'Mai Gan Zhe Yan' etc, which have deep ideological contents. While, the former one is discussing the life philosophy and the latter one focuses on the social politics. We could understand Liu Ji's characteristics and find out the reason for his becomging significant stateman through these two proses.
