乔伊斯长篇小说《青年艺术家的肖像》结局部分的叙事视角转换使得故事从作者的客观叙述转向故事人物的主观表述,而其"开放式结局"则决定了其整体叙事结构是一条无限延伸的直线,其人物塑造则体现了乔伊斯将现实主义创作手法与现代主义文学表现技巧融为一体的特征。该书的"寻父"母题既反映了对现实感到失望的人对精神支柱的追寻,又暗示着处在精神"荒原"的人对精神"绿洲"的渴望。在《青年艺术家的肖像》结局部分,乔伊斯通过描写该小说主人公的心灵顿悟,艺术地表现了20世纪初期的一位都柏林青年从旧身份到新自我的转变过程。
The shift of viewpoints in the ending part of Joyce's novel A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man facilitates the development of the story narrated from objective narration to subjective narration.The opening beginning determines the narrative structure of the story to form an endless line.The characterization in this novel reflects Joyce's combination of realistic writing skills and modern creative techniques.Stephen's'search for the father'exemplifies that a despairing man is searching for spiritual support,and hints that a hopeless man is covetous of spiritual oasis.By way of representing the protagonist's epiphany,the author,in the ending part of this novel,illustrates the shifting process of a young Dubliner in the early 20th century from an old identity to a new ego.
