This paper discusses the characteristics of porcelain insulator, glass insulator, polymer insulator on transmission lines. It analyses the influence of external issues such as lightning, pollution, bird and interval issues such as materials, process and structures on the property of insulators. Also it discusses the existing problems at work and measures for reliability.
