《聊斋志异》虽是述奇记异之作,却是多具人情,对夫妇人伦、婚姻爱情、孝道、家庭和睦等家庭伦理有比较深入写照和思考,既有对家庭伦理的沦丧的批判,也有对闪耀其间的美好人伦的褒扬。蒲松龄的伦理思想虽还不能脱离儒家传统伦理思想的范畴,也还夹杂着封建主义的糟粕,但由于其自身体验的深刻、体察的入微和思想的通达,在传统伦理思想的基础上萌生出超越时代的新的观念,体现了一位平民知识分子的独特思考和认知。

The stories in Strange Stories from a Scholar＇s Studio are full of human feelings although they are so strange. The writer ,in these stories, makes a deep thinking in way of both criticism and compliment on human relations which are rdated to couples, marriage and love, filial piety , family harmony and family ethics . Although PU Song-ling＇s ethical thinking is not free from the ideas of traditional Confucian and of feudalism, his new ideas out of traditional basis surpass the time with his own profound experience, observation and thinking and embody the unique cognition of a common intellectual.
