A Brief Introduction to the Poet Pan Lang's Outlook on Fame

潘阆的诗词作品在北宋已颇有名气,但今人对潘阆的研究甚少。他仰慕高洁、狂放不羁,却又心存功名、难绝尘想。从其诗词作品入手,揭示出潘阆充满矛盾的功名思想,由此论及潘阆在词史上的贡献。

Pan Lang, a poet of the Northern Song Dynasty, whose works, though now little studied were well-known in his times. He admired noble and unsullied personalities and lived an unconventional and unrestrained life, meanwhile he longed for fame. This essay aims at revealing his ambivalent outlook on fame embodied in his works and also his contribution in the poetic history.
