US intervention in Indonesian Civil War in 1958 is a typical event in the history of the relations between U.S. and the third world. Eisenhower Administration understood and analyzed the relationship between U.S. and the newly-built nationstates from the perspective of bipolar confrontation, and subordinated the US foreign policy towards Asian and African nation-states to its grand strategy towards USSR. In accordance of this policy framework, the US intervened in Indonesian Civil War in 1958. The failure of its intervention forced the US decision-makers to reexamine the policy framework towards Indonesia and introduce a new policy which was more feasible and suitable for the political, economic and social situations in Indonesia.
