Zhou Yu-tong and the Study on Present and Ancient Font of Confucian Classics

周予同是带有强烈时代气息的新型学者,受五四时期重新审查一切古代典籍、构建符合时代要求之学术思想体系的观念深刻影响,首次尝试对二千年的经学进行系统清理。经今古文学则不仅是其研究入手处,亦是其一生治学重点。其主要代表作《经今古文学》,辨析经学两大流派的异同、揭示两派演进脉络及原因、挖掘今文学的学术思想价值并探讨两派与其他学术的关系,在20世纪经学史研究领域具有开创之功。其最初研究虽带有今文学倾向,但随着学术研究的不断拓展和提高,他逐渐摆脱了学派影响,能够熟练运用马克思主义唯物史观,使研究真正达到科学、客观的境界。

As a new-type scholars with intense times spirit,Mr.Zhou Yutong tried first to sort systemically out 2000-year Confucian Classics under the influence of the idea that re-reviewed all ancient books and constructed a new academic system in line with times requirement during the May fourth period.The study on present and ancient Font of Confucian Classics was both the starting point and the emphasis of Zhou＇s academic study.His master work,the study on present and ancient Font of Confucian Classics,analyzed similarities and differences between the school of present Font of Confucian Classics and the school of ancient Font of Confucian Classics,demonstrated the developmental progress of the two schools and developmental causes,dug into the academic value of the present Font of Confucian Classics,discussed the relationship between the two schools and the other schools and made an initial achievement in the field of the 20-century Confucian Classics study.Although he preferred the study of present Font of Confucian Classics in his earlier study,Zhou Yutong,with his study＇s expanding and enhancing,shook off the influence of the school of present Font of Confucian Classics by adopting skillfully Marxist historical materialism and boosted his study into a scientific and objective level.
