An Endangered Language’s “Shared Change” through Language Contact: A Case Study of the Guiqiong Language

语言接触性演变通常指的是通过目标语的某一些语言特征迁移,促成源语系统特征的增加、减少、替换或保留。近年来另一种接触性演变引起了研究者的关注,即:目标语的自身演变趋势渗透到源语中,促使源语沿着同样的演变方向发生"共变"。在走向濒危的贵琼语和汉语的接触过程研究中,我们除了观察到语音、语义和语法特征迁移的事实,也发现了一些接触性共变的事例。

Language change through language contact usually refers to the fact that the transfer of some features of the target language leads to the changes of the features of the source language. In recent years, another contact change has attracted the attention of rele- vant scholars, that is, the change in the target language leads to the change in the source language, a ＂shared changes＂ like a kind of grammarization in the target language reflected in the source language. This kind of change finds expression in the case studies of lan- guage contact. This study of the contact between the endangered Guiqiong language and the Chinese language reveals some linguistic, semantic and grammatical transfer facts, that is, a ＂shared change＂.
