毛泽东认为,对社会主义建设问题的认识需要一个从必然王国到自由王国的过程,在这个过程中每个人都难免犯错误。在社会主义建设问题上,经验不足,要犯错误;照抄照搬别国经验,要犯错误;学习苏联先进经验,借鉴失败教训,可以少犯错误;坚持党的群众路线和集体领导,工作中可以少犯错误;结合实际努力学习马克思主义,掌握客观经济规律,可以少犯错误。毛泽东晚年的严重错误在于违反了他自己正确的思想理论。毛泽东晚年错误的沉痛教训,某种程度上可以成为探索中国特色社会主义"自由"的"祖宗"。中国特色社会主义正在走向自由王国的大道,所以我们"自信"。

According to Mao Zedong,our understanding about socialist building must develop from a realm of necessity to a realm of freedom, and in this development process every one may commit errors. For example, people may make mistakes due to the lack of experience in the building of socialism;people make mistakes when copying others＇ experience. Yet mistakes people make can be greatly reduced by learning from Soviet Union＇s advanced experience and drawing lessons from it;likewise, mistakes may be avoided if we adhere to the Party＇s mass line and collective leadership in our work, and when we manage to grasp Marxism and the objective economic laws by taking actual condition into our consideration. The se- rious mistakes that Mao Zedong committed attribute to his failure in observing his own correct thoughts and theory. The lessons we can draw from his errors may serve as to some extent the ＂ ancestor＂ of the ＂freedom＂ in soci^ism with Chinese characteristics. At present, socialism with Chinese characteristics is right on its way to the realm of freedom, and this is the veryreason for our confidence.
