This paper summarizes the course of FICMES(Foundry Institution of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society) in the last 40 years. The works in FICMES are reviewed on the composition of council, academic meeting, international exchange, the works of editing and publishing, exhibiting activities etc. It is clear to view from this paper, FICMES has united all the foundrymen of China, promoted development of China's foundry technology and foundry industry, and is striding forward towards the international first class of learned society.
