奥尔托加·加塞特是20世纪西班牙著名思想家、哲学家和社会活动家。《大学的使命》一书集中体现他的高等教育改革思想。他在该书中系统地提出对西班牙高等教育改革、大学使命、人才培养与文化综合等方面的观点和看法。奥尔托加的教育思想对我国高等教育改革与发展的启示是:重视文化的传授,培养学生的基本文化修养;重新构建关于大学、教师、学生和知识本身的知识谱系;在融入外界社会之中坚守大学的精神力量,正确处理教学与科研的关系;高等教育改革要以生为本,实现功能分层与优化。

Jose Ortegay Gasset is a notable Spanish thinker, philosopher and social activist in the 20th century, whose thought on higher education is fully embodied in the book Mission of the University. In his book, Ortega systematically put forward the views and ideas on higher education innovation, mission of the university, talent training and culture comprehension in Spain. Moreover, the en- lightenments of his educational thoughts to our higher education innovation and development in China are to value the cultural impart- merit, to cultivate the students＇ cultural qualities, to reconstruct the knowledge tree among university, teachers, students and knowl- edge itself, to stick to the university＇ s spiritual force, to properly handle the relationships between teaching and research in the society integrated into the outside world, to carry out the student - centered innovation and achieve the functional segregation and optimization in higher education.
