A Discriminative Investigation on the Newly Unearthed Epitaph of the Litterateur Li Dang in the Tang Dynasty

河南省偃师市新出了唐代文学家李当墓志。这方墓志提供了李当籍贯家世、生平经历、诗文著述等重要资料,记载了李当的科场经历和仕宦出处,牵连到牛李党争的人事关系,对于唐代科举史和政治史研究具有重要作用。李当是大诗人李益之子,其诗文撰著无疑受到李益的影响。该墓志也就有益于我们了解唐代文学家的家族传承特点,本身也是一篇难得的文学家传记。因此,李当墓志具有重要的文献学和文学价值。

The epitaph of the litterateur Li Dang in the Tang Dynasty was newly unearthed in Yanshi City,Henan Province. This epitaph provided important information about Li Dang＇s native place,family extraction,life experience and literary creation. The epitaph recorded Li Dang＇s official and imperial examination experiences which involved human relations of Niu-Li Factional Struggles,and it played an important role in the study of imperial examinations and the political history of the Tang Dynasty. There is no doubt that Li Dang＇s creation was influenced by his father,the great poet Li Yi. The epitaph helped us to understand litterateurs＇ family tradition in the Tang Dynasty,and it also was a rare literary biography itself. Consequently,the epitaph of Li Dang had important values on both documental and literary aspects.
