The L2 Motivational Self System:A Comparative Study of Secondary and University EFL Learners in China's Mainland

摘要 This study is to test Dörnyei’s L2 Motivational Self System in China's Mainland.Based on 564 questionnaire forms col⁃lected from secondary and university EFL learners,and correlation analysis,it confirms Dörnyei’s assumption that integrativeness can be interpreted as being an L2-specific facet of an L2 learner’s ideal self,and suggests that the L2 learning experience plays a more important role than the other components in influencing the amount of effort learners invest on learning English.
