Objective This paper will launch practical exploration for adjusting National Essential Drug List for Children based on data from National Drug Utilization Monitoring System and will offer policy recommendations on adjustment of National Essential Drug List. Methods In this research, methods of deep mining and dimensional analysis of data from National Drug Utilization Monitoring System will be induced. Some realistic problems will be focused and an analysis model will be introduced. At last, screening and calculation will be used to find some target drugs. Results This research has analyzed drug utilization situation in 40 pediatric hospitals based on data from the National Drug Utilization Monitoring System. In this paper, authors design and optimize a the measurement dimension table for the adjustment model of National Essential Drugs for Children, screen out Azithromycin and Piperacillin-sulbactam as target drugs though practical exploration and suggest to select appropriate dosage forms and specifications when adjusting National Essential Drug List for Children. Conclusion Backing by gradually maturing information technologies,it is not only viable on technical level but also necessary on business level to carry out dimensional drug policy analysis and make full use of medical big data to gradually develop and optimize the adjustment model of National Essential Drugs for children.
