Objective To analyze the relationship between the expression levels of tumor metastasis-associated gene 1(MTA1)and vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)in lung cancer tissues and the tumor staging and prognosis. Methods Specimens of cancer tissues and para-cancerous tissues from 108 patients with lung cancer admitted to our hospital were collected. The expression levels of MTA1 and VEGF-C were detected and the clinical related data were collected. Results The positive expression rates of VEGF-C and MTA1 in cancer tissues were higher than those in para-cancerous tissues(P<0.05).The positive expression rates of MTA1 and VEGF-C were higher in patients with stage III-IV tumors, low differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).The expression of VEGF-C was positively correlated with the expression of MTA1(P<0.05).The 1-year overall survival rate and progression-free survival rate in the VEGF-C positive group and the MTA1 positive group were lower than those in the corresponding negative groups(P<0.05).Conclusion VEGF-C and MTA1 are positively expressed in lung cancer tissues. The two indexes may have synergistic effects in the formation of tumor vessels and lymph nodes, which jointly promote the malignant development of tumor cells. The higher the positive levels of VEGF-C and MTA1 are,the worse the prognosis of patients is.
