摘要
“褶子”这一哲学概念被用于可视化交互数据的设计与评断。诸如数字艺术史和文学研究等应用领域的竞相出现,都指向可视化数据在人文学科研究乃至教育领域的发展潜力。吉尔·德勒兹的“褶子”概念衍生出得以观视基本数据之复杂性的重要框架。褶子经由“解释”“蕴含”与“复杂”过程,使用户得以进入具有连贯性、弹性与无限性的信息空间。这种观视方式拒斥交互性与视觉编码间的二元分立,强调可视化数据内部并存的多个状态及其动态转换。
This paper proposes the philosophical notion of the fold as an evocative vocabulary for the design and critique of interactive data visualizations.An expanding range of application areas,such as digital art history and literary studies,illustrates the potential of data visualization for research and education in the humanities.Based on the concept of the fold,prominently advanced by Gilles Deleuze,this paper identifies design patterns of the fold in data visualizations,devise a framework for the critical interpretation of interactivity in data visualization,and demonstrate the implications for the digital humanities.
