《孟子》英译研究之回顾与启思

Review and Outlook on the Research of the English Translation of Mencius

儒家经典《孟子》对中国思想文化影响深远,已有近两百年英译史,但目前《孟子》各译本的研究现状尚不明朗。本研究采用文献研究法和分析法,批郤导窾式地回顾了《孟子》英译研究的概况。研究发现:国外《孟子》英译研究逐渐式微,国内成果日渐丰硕,但国内外研究的对象均集中于名家译本,学者们各自为战,研究方法和视角单一,研究未成体系。未来研究应拓展研究对象,既深入译本内部,又涉及译本外部,重视副文本及译者研究,强化定量研究的作用,提高研究的科学性和系统性,增强中国智慧的异域影响力。

Mencius,with a history of English translation for nearly two hundred years,has a profound influence on Chinese ideology and culture,but it remains unclear in terms of the research on its English versions.This thesis adopts the methods of literature research and analysis to review the current status of studies on the English translation of Mencius.It is found that Mencius translation research abroad has gradually declined,while China has yielded fruitful results in this field.But the previous research has concentrated on the authoritative versions,the research methods and perspectives are homogenized,and the research system has not been constructed.Future research should expand its objects,attach importance to the research of side texts and translators,conduct more quantitative researches,improve the research scientificity and systematicness,and enhance the influence of Chinese wisdom abroad.
