摘要
史诗《格萨尔》霍斯英译本以藏文本为底本进行英译,是当前最新的译本。基于译者行为批评理论,借助“求真—务实”连续统中的“务实”维度,对译者的翻译策略、翻译倾向、翻译方式加以分析,发现霍斯译本通过保留宗教文化的翻译策略、多重译者的合作翻译方式、面向目的语传播的读者意识,实现了合理的社会性“务实”,在作者、底本、译本、读者、目的语社会等多方之间实现了理想的平衡,顺应了文化“走出去”潮流,能够助力民族文学典籍对外翻译与传播。
The latest English translation of the epic of Gesar by Hawes is based on the Tibetan text.Utilizing the theory of translator behavior criticism and focusing on the utility dimension of the“truth-seeking and utility-attaining”continuum,the au-thor analyzes the translator’s strategies,tendencies,and methods.The analysis reveals that Hawes’s translation achieves reason-able social utility by employing strategies that preserve religious culture,utilizing a cooperative translation approach among multi-ple translators and maintaining reader awareness tailored to the target language audience.This approach successfully balances the needs of the author,the original Tibetan text,the English translation,readers,and the target language society.It aligns with the trend of promoting cultural exchange and supports the translation and dissemination of Chinese national classics to a global audi-ence.
